Take Mom out for a stroll
in downtown Newmarket…
FOURTH ANNUAL NEWMARKET ARTWALK
IS THIS WEEKEND (mAY 9 & 10)

This two-day event, sponsored jointly by the
Lamprey Arts & Culture Alliance (LACA) and the Newmarket Business
Association (NBA) brings together ten businesses in the downtown
area, displaying art and offering specials and discounts for those who
mention the ArtWalk.
According to LACA board member Lorelei Chernyshov, “This event reflects
Newmarket's abundance of artistic depth and community spirit brought
together for a Mother's Day weekend celebration. Main Street is a natural
gathering space to park the car and walk about, stopping for lunch,
popping into an art exhibit, browsing through books and listening to
music.”
HERE'S WHAT'S HAPPENING:
This year’s ArtWalk—our fourth annual—promises
to be bigger and better than ever. It will be anchored by a LACA
photography exhibit, featuring black & white photography by the
Seacoast Camera Club, alongside colorful floral photos by Russ
Simon, on display at the gallery at Ampers&® Studio.
The exhibit, entitled Arrangements in Grey and Black, will be open
from 12 to 3 PM on both Saturday & Sunday. Free
Mimosas & Pastries will be offered (while they last) both days, beginning at noon
on Saturday. As always, there will be a wide selection of hand-crafted
jewelry and handbags for sale as well—and all offered at 10% off!
Additionally, “Mothers Day Specials” will be offered all weekend
long by merchants up and down Main Street, who will each be displaying
artwork created by Newmarket High School students. The student art
display is being organized by Newmarket HS Art Teacher Annette Blake.
Visitors will also be treated to an outdoor
serenade promenade with live music by the BrandyLeif Quartet on Saturday as they stroll through the downtown area.
And, weather permitting, plein air artists will set up their easels
and paint along Main Street.
Admission is free (donations
accepted) to all ArtWalk events.

“The Newmarket Business Association is proud to
support the ArtWalk weekend by the Lamprey Arts & Culture Alliance. It is
a great pleasure to work with our local community organizations for the
benefit of Newmarket,” says NBA President Gerry O’Connell.
“This is just one of many community events the
downtown businesses hope to sponsor this year, in an effort to bring
vitality to the downtown,” adds Kimberly
Foss, a LACA board member and owner of Ampers& Studio on Main Street. “We
encourage folks to embrace the changes being made in the downtown area,
and to come on out and discover everything this historic, riverside mill
town has to offer.”
