Part of
the We Dig Newmarket* Summer Program Series,
serenades feature
live performances by local musicians
every Saturday from 11:30–2:30.
They'll be set up somewhere along Main Street and
plein air artists are invited out to paint around town.
Our hope
is that folks running errands downtown,
or grabbing a cup of coffee or a bite to eat
at one of our many local eateries, will be serenaded
by music as they walk along Main Street.
You are
welcome to stop for a few minutes
and listen to the musicians perform.
(And perhaps throw a small donation their way if so moved!)
Restaurants and storefronts are open, the
parks are in full bloom, boats fill the marina,
and the sections of Main Street which have
been completed are looking lovely.
Come
downtown and join the fun!
WEEK 1
6/21: Bob Halperin

The music of local blues guitar artist Bob Halperin
resonated throughout the downtown on June 21,
and was enjoyed by all who strolled the downtown.
According to "The
Wire," Halperin is "a remarkably fluent
guitarist and singer…and a disciple of the pure blues tradition."
View a live video of Bob performing "Sail Away" during our summer 2008
kick-off in downtown Newmarket!
WEEK 2
6/28: Leicht Jazz

Leicht Jazz, featuring the John Leicht on Trumpet and Vocals,
George Blodgett on Bass, and Michael Shea on Piano, treated
downtown visitors to a delightful afternoon of classic jazz at its best.
Mike is a well known Boston jazz pianist; John can be found at his regular
Sunday Gig at the New England center brunch; and George, described as a
"ubiquitous musician," can be found sitting
in with bands all around the Seacoast area.
WEEK 3
7/5: BrandyLeif Trio

The BrandyLeif Trio, featuring Brandy Irish on keyboard and Leif
Gerjuoy on percussion, and joined by George Blodgett on Bass,
once again filled the downtown with their wonderfully blended sound. The
trio was also the featured act earlier this year, during Newmarket's third
annual ArtWalk, held every year over Mothers Day Weekend.
WEEK 5
7/19: Nice & Naughty

Nice & Naughty braved the hot, sticky weather on Saturday,
and sang their hearts out—as they always do!
Sometimes irreverent, but never rude, musicians Cheryl Sager and
Peg Chaffee combine instruments and voice to create original music.
Peg & Cheryl are local favorites, having oft performed at
LACA events. Most recently they treated us to some
a capella caroling during LACA's 2007 Winter Holiday Open House.
